Our next Twin Cities Potluck Social (Monday, October 28th from 6:30-8:30pm) will be a workshop with Dr. Raheem Young, visiting the Twin Cities for the National Association of Public Health Conference. We will again meet at Loyola Spirituality Center (389 Oxford St. North, St. Paul).
Title: IN ALL YOU GET, GAIN UNDERSTANDING: Understanding Self to Better Understand Others
Workshop Summary: Understanding your emotions and being conscious of the way you cope with stress is extremely important. Especially, when interacting with those closest to you. In this workshop, we will explore the meaning of βknowledge of selfβ and identify how self-knowledge impacts our ability to manage stress and relation to others. The objective of this workshop is for participants to develop emotional intelligence and gain a better understanding of how the internal relationship we have with ourselves affects the external relationships we have with the people in our lives.
Dr. Raheem Young is a Lecturer in the Health and Human Services Department at Governors State University. He co-founded the nonprofit Welcome to Fatherhood to help men cope with the pressures of fatherhood, relationships, and everyday life. Raheem is the Chair of the Community Based Public Health Caucus (CBPHC) and the Co-Chair of the Far South Chicago Coalitionβs Health and Mental Wellness Committee. He is a former Schweitzer Fellow and has 15+ years of experience working with youth and vulnerable populations.
A Potluck Dinner: Bring a dish to share, or just show up. There will be plenty.
We're excited for you to join us!
