[Postponed] ABCD Storytime: Gatherings, Neighborhoods, and Gifts ... Oh My!

Sometimes, all it takes to get unstuck or keep going with your weaving is the right story.

There's a lot of emphasis in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) on tools, mindsets, and values. And hooray for that!

But what about some good old storytime for the sake of a good old story?

That's what we're going to do here. 🙂

Thursday, February 16 at 11:00am-12:30pm PST / 2:00-3:30pm EST

What to Expect

Bring a story related to one of the prompts below ... or just show up to listen to others. There’s absolutely no pressure to tell a story.

Whether it's a personal story or something you read/heard somewhere, just make sure you keep this in mind:

1. All stories should be five minutes or less to allow space for others to share. If you're planning to offer up one, time yourself in advance to make sure you can concisely deliver it.
2. It should be within the spirit of how you understand Weave + ABCD.
3. You can declare your intention to tell a story in this signup sheet. We'll do our best to work you in, although we can't guarantee everyone will get to share.

Some Prompts

Here are some ideas for stories in case you need some:

• How have you seen neighbors come together to improve local health, safety, economics, the environment, food production, raising children, or general community care? What did that look, sound, and feel like?
• When have you seen or been involved with ABCD style gatherings by another name (or no name at all)? What's the essence of Weavers practicing asset-based activities together?
• How have you seen people on the margins of a group or community be invited to share their gifts?

What You'll Get

Smiles, laughs, great vibes, intriguing and surprising tales, maybe some tears of joy or empathy, and a new/deeper appreciation for the ways we can show up for each other as Weavers.
