Anthony started work in a grocery store in March, 2020, just as the pandemic created shopping panic. During every shift for over two years, he felt the impact of a stressful environment that did little to support worker health or nourish co-worker relationships. Always on the verge of quitting, he started thinking about how things could be done differently.
What if the store carved out intentional time and space during the workday to build social support and belonging? This idea, of weaving in the workplace, began with a ten-minute meeting and turned into a year-long pilot program that cut absenteeism in half and started a culture of care.
From that experience, Anthony has since trained thousands of nonprofit, education, government, philanthropy, and social impact leaders in workplace mental health programs. His nonprofit, Evolving Minds, is on a mission to inspire a culture of trust and empathy at work.
Anthonyβs efforts supporting mental health in young adults started in college with a campaign that led to new resources and changes in policy. Anthony received the Rising Terp Alumni Excellence Award from the University of Maryland and a 2023 Baltimore Weaver Award from the Aspen Instituteβs Weave: The Social Fabric Project. He was a guest on the Anxious Achiever LinkedIn Presents podcast and his work was featured in Mental Health Americaβs Workplace Mental Health Toolkit.
Heβs a national speaker with Active Minds, a former member of the Mental Health America Young Adult Leader Council, and a fierce advocate for four-day work weeks.
