Ashley "Ash" Esposito lives with her family in Southwest Baltimore. She is a former foster care youth, inclusion advocate, and 2021 Baltimore Weaver Awardee. She spent her formative years in a small town in Southern Arizona, where her upbringing instilled a profound commitment to empathy and civic responsibility. She seamlessly blends her roles as a mother, artist, community weaver, and advocate for justice. Her approach is rooted in meeting people where they are, ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging, healing from trauma, and courageously working through discomfort. In Baltimore, she actively builds bridges within her community, embracing diversity, and fostering inclusivity to create a more equitable and connected society.

She lives in a very charming neighborhood in Baltimore City called Violetville. Like many communities, Violetville needed to build bridges between longtime residents and new arrivals like her. She set out on a door-to-door listening tour with a friend.  They kept hearing that many people didnโ€™t feel connected to or welcomed. So they started a neighborhood wellness association. The goal was to bring folks together and solve whatever issues people raised, from traffic calming to helping with water distribution during a crisis to setting up a neighborhood compost station center.

Esposito was recently elected to the Baltimore City Public Schools Board of Education. She has spoken at a White House symposium on Innovation in Education, is a panelist for a broad range of topics including: neurodiversity, empathy, centering youth voices, diversity in the tech industry, housing justice, civic engagement, and healing. She has also facilitated conversations with authors such as Dr. Bettina L. Love, Leah Rothstein, and Richard Rothstein.
