Forgive this long comment, but building online communities is an area where I've had a fair amount of experience. In 2005 I co-founded a non-profit called Global Mindshift, which brought small groups of people -- often international -- into asynchronous, facilitated dialogues to explore the knowledge and skills we need to learn to live in global community. Results were mixed. Sometimes it went great, sometimes not. When it did not go great was when conflicts among participants arose and...
I really love this! I'm a serious 22-year-old who has often felt insecure about my inability to squeal over anything. Can't wait to check out the community on “The Serious Type”!
Hello @Judy Cockerton . First I want to commend and than you for your work. While my career was such that serving a foster parent was simply not feasible, I have long supported organizations and individuals who are involved with foster care. My mother grew up in the Montana State Children's home (orphanage) that was closed in the 1970's, so I have been acutely aware my entire life of the trials that children growing up in group homes face. Hey Everyone! Hope you're doing well. A colleague at Weinberg shared this update on their Baltimore City Community Grants Program . They've doubled the Award size and removed the two year award cap. Could be a great funding opportunity for weaving work.
The Baker-King Foundation has a nearly 30-year history of offering grants to resident-led groups and community projects in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. These grants give residents the resources they need to accomplish a small project, get more people involved, and encourage the next generation of neighborhood leaders. They support nonprofits operating in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area but have a particular emphasis on medical, educational and child welfare organizations.
